The Prayer of a Nursing Student

Dear Lord, I know we go through this everyday,
but please give me the knowledge as to why I actually wanted to go to nursing school.

Lord, give me the strength to make it through those boring 3 hour lectures without falling asleep.

Lord, please give me patience to make it though clinicals
with instructors who can't just give you the right answer.
On the same note, give the nurses the ability to remember
what it was like to be a student and give us just a little more respect.

Lord, give me the endurance to read all the assigned readings
and be able to remember it when I am taking a test with 4 right answers.

Lord, give my family and friends the ability to realize I am on the edge of insanity.

Finally, Lord, give me the vision to see that one day I will be a real nurse
and I will never have to wear this ugly uniform again.
Amen.

For Just a Taste of Heaven

Listen, O heavens, and I will speak;
Hear. O earth, the words of my mouth.
Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants.

I will proclaim the name of the LORD
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
He is the Rock, His works are perfect,
and all His ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is He.

O dulcet taste of heaven,
Where art thou?
Wither have thine gone with such beauty to unveil?
Beauty that crescendos in all of its splendor,
Beauty that invites one hither to feast,
On the riches of the comfort, nourishment,
and inspiration that such presence would bring.

I have played the harlot with this world and its divers fancies;
The lust of the flesh, the eyes and the pride of life.
Yet they all have passed in their time. None endurth.
And of all the affections that have munched through the heart
none compares with You.
You are Holy.

O soothing taste of heaven,
Where art thou?
Wither have thine gone with such love to bequeath?
Love that in self bereavement exhibits all grandeur and glory.
Love that is relentless with passion to for me,
Love that is eternal, everlasting,
Love that is mighty to save!

O Great Lover of my soul
Put me like a seal over your heart,
Like a seal on your arm.
For your love is as strong as death,
Jealousy is as sever as Sheol;
Its burns like a blazing fire
Like a mighty flame.
Many waters cannot quench love;
Nor will many rivers overflow it;
If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love,
It would be utterly scorned.

For who among the gods is like you. O LORD?
Who is like You-
majestic in holiness,
awesome in glory
working wonders?
